There were times when Ozzie Smith’s position should have been listed as “stratosphere,” as that is often where he could be found, leaping for hot line drives and – most memorably – doing his signature backflip as he and the Cardinals took the field to begin games at Busch Stadium. It’s not possible that a better photo exists of the Wizard of Oz during one such flip than this amazing shot that hung in the All Star Room at Busch. We see Ozzie with his body absolutely perpendicular to the ground, his red and white striped shoes pointing straight and his head straight down. Huzzahs to the photographer for freezing Ozzie in a position few could ever see because of how fast he executed those backflips. Color image is embedded against a white matted surface in a silver frame sized to 36” wide and 46 long. Photo is NRMT. (Estimate $300 - $500)
