Great Baseball Vintage Photograph and Negative Collection (150+)

Photos (some with negatives) & clippings dating back to the birth of baseball in the 1840’s (later prints) captured in these photographic testimonies used by honored sports columnist and author, Edwin Pope. Used for his books, many have captions and handwritten notes (with chapter numbers and titles) still attached. It’s impossible to list all of the great and historical moments captured here. Many unique and memorable include shot of Mays crossing home plate (1951), Slaughter beating throw to home in 1946 WS, Ted Williams spitting at the press box in Boston after hitting his 400th career HR, Pete Gray, Dizzy Dean (1946 WS), Johnny Evers, Frank Chance, Mack, Cobb (1925), Tinker. Pre-1900’s mythological baseball figures like The Father of modern baseball, Alexander Cartwright, Jr., Abner Coubleday (inventor of original baseball), William Hubbert, Old Hoss Radbourne, & Al Spalding. Most of the pre 1930’s photos are later prints. The post 1930 material is mostly original prints. Range in size from 2.5x3” to 8x10”. Most are EX+.
