Great set of seven (7) pieces of personal family ephemera relating to Detroit Tigers great Harry Heilmann. 1) Best is the letter to his wife from the Hall of Fame informing her of the ceremonies being held for her late husband's induction in 1952; comes with pass to the Hall of Fame for Mrs. Helilman. 2) Letter 2/6/51 to Harry from the Detroit News apparently relating to a publishing dispute. 3) Letter from board chairman of WJR/WGAR/KMPC thanking Heilmann for his support in a Freedom of Speech issue. Includes handwritten addition mentioning his relationship with Ty Cobb. 4) Condolence letter from the Hall of Fame to Harry's son dated 6/29/61 regarding the death of Heilmann's wife. 5) Four-page card stock program/scorecard for 1952 Hall of Fame Game. 6) Official 1952 induction postcard, postmarked July 22, 1952. 7) Newspaper column making the case for Harry being inducted into Cooperstown, which did eventually happen six months after his death from lung cancer.
