Hugh Duffy Signed Government Postcard
Very rare signature of HOF’er Hugh Duffy, who compiled the highest single-season batting average ever, .440 in 1894, when he also won the Triple Crown for the Boston Braves. Duffy, who later became the Red Sox manager, signed and sent to Jim Davidson this government postcard, his signature in blue ink grading a fine 9/10 to the right of an affixed photo of him in his managing days. Card is postmarked April 20, 1954 from Boston, MA. He died almost exactly 6 months later on October 19 at age 87. Card itself is EX-MT with light foxing of the edges.
