Important 1900s Baseball Ephemera (11)
1) Special 1905 Barney Dreyfuss ALS on Pittsburgh Athletic Company stationery telling of Del’s transfer to Boston. He actually says, “It has hurt me more to part with your services than any other player ever in my employ.” He goes on to tell why <u>and he means it</u>. NRMT. 2) Frank Richter ALS on wonderful Uncle Sam <i>Sporting Life</i> stationery (envelope clipped). He is asking for photos and stats for the paper. Gorgeous NRMT. 3) 1905 Frank G. Selee Testimonial Game Ticket. 9-28-05 unused paper ticket pits the Cubs v. Boston Doves at West Side Grounds. “Gross Receipts To Be Tendered to Mr. Selee.” Felled by TB he was replaced as Cubs manager by Frank Chance. NRMT. 4) 1907 National League “Player Pass” issued to G. Howard of Boston. Facsimile signed by NL Prez Harry C. Pulliam. Original soft leather wallet as well, a wonderful piece. EX+. 5) Two “baseball” letters from friends. 1907 Boston Doves Opening Game and 1904 Omaha pennant content (w/envelopes). NRMT. 6-8) Pocket schedules: 1906 Chicago Cubs (back cover off), 1905 Pirates, and 1907 Boston Herald. 9) 1907 Chicago v Minneapolis Boards of Trade scorecard. No ML’ers. NRMT. 10) 1909 Invitation to Chicago Cubs dinner given by HC Suttle. Back damage o/w EX-MT. 11) 1906 National Commission memo brought on by Garry Hermann’s dubious Ed Phelps sale and wager. Fair.
