Joe Louis Fight Tickets (3)

Joe Louis Fight Tickets (3)

These days it would be hard to imagine one person holding the World Boxing Championship for a dozen years, but the legendary Brown Bomber, Joe Louis, held the belt from 1937-49 and was considered one of the best fighters of all time. This lot contains three ticket stubs: one is the admission portion from his bout with Jack Sharkey at Yankee Stadium on August 18, 1936; the others are unused samples, one of which depicts Louis and challenger Max Schmeling also at Yankee Stadium on June 22, 1938. The third is from the February 9, 1940 title between the champ and Arturo Godoy. The Sharkey stub is in Excellent condition but has slight back damage, while both samples are in EX condition. The lot includes a clip from the front cover of the program from the Sharkey bout.
