July 17, 1912 Theodore Roosevelt Signed Letter

July 17, 1912 Theodore Roosevelt Signed Letter

Typed letter on “The Outlook”, Office of Theodore Roosevelt” letterhead is dated, July 17, 1912 - shortly after the time that he lost the 1912 Presidential campaign as the “Bull Moose” candidate. In response to a handwritten letter from Lucien L. Bonheur (also matted in display) regarding a dinner planned in honor of Roosevelt, the ex-President writes, “My dear Mr. Bonheur: That is awfully good of you. I suggest first of all that you consult with Judge Hotchkiss. There is a good deal of feeling that it would not be wise to have me go as a delegate, and I would like my friends to talk the matter over. Let me heartily thank you for what you are doing. Faithfully Yours, T. Roosevelt.” Signature in black fountain pen is slightly faded (brown in color), grading a “6” out of a possible 10. Letter is EX-MT. Framed display measures 21x20”.
