Late 1960s San Francisco Giants Cap Attributed to Willie Mays

Late 1960s San Francisco Giants Cap Attributed to Willie Mays

Late 1960‚s San Francisco Giants cap has an overwhelming vintage appearance and features all of the attributes of a Willie Mays game used example. Recently inspected by MEARS, this McAuliffe/KM Pro size 7 (preferred by Mays) Giants cap features a leather sweatband, original size tag and shows moderate use. Although the cap does not show any Mays identification, this 1967-72 example is of Mays‚ preferred size. It is well known that Mays liked to create a show for the fans while making a difficult catch and used an undersized cap so that it would purposely fly off his head. Comes MEARS with LOA.The following items were obtained from the players themselves by a former umpire who was an early collector of game worn material. He had displayed his items with small typed descriptions of the items so that all friends and visitors would know what they were looking at. Most of the items come with the original, vintage typed cards that were displayed with the items.
