Louis Armstrong Typed Letters
In a typed letter dated October 1, 1948 Satchmo again pays tribute to the German lip salve he doted on. In another dated June 2, 1961, he effuses over a different preparation, a powder called Bis Ma Rex that has cured his gastric woes. "I used to think I was Heart Sick," he writes, "but I found out that most of the times, a heart attack isn't anything but gas." Upon taking it, "I burped or belched real loud (ha ha ha). I noticed I would immediately get relieved." A third letter is on stationery emblazoned "Satchmo in Africa" featuring a great sepia-toned image of him wailing on the trumpet. Signatures on letters are 8 and 9/10. Also a copy of Louis' "diet" plan, "Lose Weight the Satchmo Way." Great and fun memorabilia.
