Mark Chapman Hotel Bill from John Lennon Assassination (6x11”)
A small, chilling piece of the mysterious puzzle of events that led an obsessive fan to do the unthinkable. The two nights before the grizzly murder of his idol John Lennon, Chapman slept and plotted at The Sheraton Towers undoubtedly reading and re-reading “The Catcher in the Rye” as he awaited that evil date. This copy of his bill belonged to the hotel and lists all charges to his room including one of his final phone calls as a free man. Was it a call for help? Or to say good-bye? Except for its even toning this morbid document is in virtually the same condition it was printed that fateful morning.
