Montreal Forum Maurice Richard Signed Seat
Art has the Louvre, opera has La Scala, and hockey had the Montreal Forum. From 1924-1996, the rink on Saint Catherine Street sent shivers down hockey fans' spines and shudders through opponents' bodies -- elements crucial to the Canadiens' 23 Stanley Cup champion teams in that span. This marvelous seat taken from the arena and signed by Canadiens great Maurice "Rocket" Richard surely evokes a shudder or two, splendidly recapturing the Canadiens "vibe" with its white wooden seatback and red lettering and numbering. The Rocket embellished his NRMT signature in blue marker with "9" and "HOF-61, 544 Goals." Middle of the seatback has the writing "Number 1, Row E, Section 303" in red, and "E" and "1" are stenciled in red on top, next to a sticker of the team's "C" logo -- which is also etched onto four blocks, two on either side of the lower back frame legs. Paint is chipped in spots and there's some soiling at the top of the seatback, and the grey-green seat cushion has some small tears, a solid VG. 16 1/2" across top, 38" high, 14 x 14" seat.
