Muhammad Ali Training Robe From The Larry Holmes Fight

Muhammad Ali Training Robe From The Larry Holmes Fight

Two years after retiring, Ali still believing he was the true champion, stepped into the ring against his former sparring partner. Though Holmes was hesitant at first to take on his aging idol, Muhammad knew the youngster was hungry for respect and that this battle would require training and preparation beyond any such he had endured before. Each day he would enter the gym to push his 39 year old body to its limits, striving to become the sports only four time champ, with him through it all was this white terrycloth robe. Across the back in black leather letters is “Muhammad Ali” and on the left chest is a lightly faded “Everlast” patch. Its strong use tells a tale of desire and unrelenting will that was the man as it is toned from the heavy sweat and determination it had absorbed. A true boxing treasure from the greatest there ever was. From collection of Deer Lake resident Gene Killian. LOA from Ali collector Pete Morkovin who obtained the robe from Killian. Also comes with photo of Ali wearing the robe which was taken by Mr. Killian.
