Neil Armstrong High School Yearbook
Neil Armstrong Senior Yearbook 1947 Blume High School, Wapakoneta, OH. This is a very, very difficult book to find at all, much less in the superb condition of the one offered here. There were 78 people in the graduating class and Neil did not achieve "fame" till well after his high school days, so few were preserved for that reason! Also, these books were bound horribly and virtually every copy I have encountered has the entire contents detached from the cover. This one shows some age coloration on the edges of the cover, has "1947" written on both endpapers (perhaps a school "file" copy?) and the insides are showing the start of separation from the cover in the front but remain firmly attached. The pages are in excellent shape with there being no moisture damage, no cutouts, no torn or missing pages and no writing. In 1969, Armstrong was commander of Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing mission, and gained the distinction of being the first man to land a craft on the Moon and the first man to step on its surface. In this book he appears with his posed individual head photo and full activity list in the Seniors section. That is then followed by a photo of the 3 officers of the Band (nice clear small group shot), and a distant photo of the full band. He then appears as VP of the Student Council in another group of 3 shot and finally in two larger group shots in Senior Hi-Y and the Yearbook Staff. There will only be one man who had the privilege of being first to step foot on the moon and this is a highly scarce and personal piece of that man's life.<b> </b>
