Paul Coffey Record 48th Goal Game Used Stick
During the final game of the 1985-86 season Paul Coffey scored his 48th goal just minutes after potting number 47 to eclipse and reset the previous goal record for a defenseman held by Bobby Orr. The notation“48th Goal” appears in black marker low on the shaft nearby the boldly signed “Paul Coffey, 7”. A plaque mounted on the blade reads “Goals by Defenseman, 1985/86 Paul Coffey – 48, 1974-75 Bobby Orr – 46, NHL Record”. The stick itself is Paul’s Sherwood 5030 pattern with a fragmented “Coffey” stamp as the shaft has been rounded. Two tiny mount holes. From noted collector and former Edmonton Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery.
