Wayne Gretzky’s 1050th Assist Milestone Display with Puck from the Photo Shoot!
On November 1st, 1988, Wayne Gretzky eclipsed Gordie Howe’s NHL record of 1049 assists as Jari Kurri converted his pass for the goal at 12:44 of the first period. Mounted in this wonderful display is the official milestone photograph taken at Wayne’s locker immediately following the game. And above, the actual puck from the photo! Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery captured all of Wayne’s milestone moments during his time in Edmonton. This official Oilers Inglasco game puck with the decal “1050” was fashioned for the historic event and has become an integral part of Wayne’s photographic history. Also included within the blue suede display are the game stats sheet, signed by Wayne and Jari Kurri and Gordie Howe, two commemorative coins in gold and silver plate and a pair of plaques reading “In Commemoration of Wayne Gretzky breaking Gordie Howe’s Career Assist Record no. 1050” and “November 1, 1988”. Wayne has also signed again on the white matte beside this amazing puck. Matted size is 21x24”. From noted collector and former Edmonton Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery.
