Suite 70 Front Door

Suite 70 Front Door

Beyond this green door was a wonder world known as McGwire-ville, or as it was officially known at Busch Stadium, Suite 70, the section of the left field grandstand and the private party room behind it. Creating an enduring tribute to Mark McGwire and his record-shattering 70-homer season of 1998, the team remodeled one of the stadium’s luxury suites into a sort of Big Mac shrine. The room, which had a bar and tables, had walls lined with dozens of pictures and other McGwire bric a brac (which are also being offered in this auction), and opened it up to the public for group sales on a per-game basis. Over the years, everything from weddings to bar mitzvah receptions occupied Suite 70, which was always booked up months in advance. The door will be a fond memory to anyone who had the good fortune of landing Suite 70 for a party. Metal door is 85” tall and 35.75” wide, with a Suite 70 sign in the middle of the glass window. Sticker reading “Major League Baseball Salutes America” is on the lower right of the window. Door is in EX condition. <br>(Estimate $500 - $1,000)
