The First Rock 'n Roll Song Concert Poster

The First Rock 'n Roll Song Concert Poster

It is recognized by many music historians as being the first rock and roll record ever produced. "Rocket 88" was released in April of 1951 by Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats, who were actually Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. This vintage poster for Brenston and "His Rocket 88 Band" promotes the act's "latest Chess recording" that features the tracks "Hi-Ho-Baby," "Leo the Louse" and "Starvation Blues." The poster measures 13.75" x 21.75" and is in EX condition with some minor edge wear. "Rocket 88" - a tribute to the Oldsmobile car of the same name - was a #1 record on Billboard's R&B chart. Brenston was Ike Turner's saxophonist.
