Thomas Edison Signed Guest Book From Glenmont

Thomas Edison Signed Guest Book From Glenmont

Very personalized guest book from Thomas Edison's home in West Orange, New Jersey, where he lived with his family for much of his life, until his death. Signed twice by Thomas Alva Edison, once on the first page dated October 14, 1914 (also by his sons & other family members) and again on December 5, 1915. Instead of the date, Edison drew a little stick figure with an umbrella. Book is filled with family, prominent cohorts & Edison’s cronies, but the most important signature by far is that of Henry Ford. Ford has added a musical stanza to “The Victory Ball” underneath his signature. Also in the book are 10 Western Unions’ (1932 & 1933) with personal notes from Henry Ford. The “Guest Book” contains pictures of newborns born to family member’s, artwork, photographs of the house, the visitors (snap shots of Edsel Ford with Charles - one of Edison’s sons, & a snapshot of Edison with his wife). Also includes signatures of: Prince & Princess of Sweden, Lord (Maurice) Egerton, King of Siam, Ernest Schelling - a major figure in New York (1900 to 1939) who enjoyed a successful career as composer, pianist, & conductor. The estate where the book once resided, is where Edison did much of his life's work; it is now an historic site. Edison is also buried at this house.
