Walter Johnson Signed Bank Check

Walter Johnson Signed Bank Check

One of the most dominant pitchers the game has ever seen, Walter Johnson signed this check issued by the Germantown Bank of Maryland. The check is made out to the Rev. John J. Coody for five dollars and is dated August 10, 1940, 13 years after "The Big Train" retired. This check is filled out in Johnson's hand and the fountain ink signature rates 9/10. Matted and framed with a photo (later print), the check appears in EX-MT condition. The framed piece measures 19.5" x 24". Johnson's career numbers shame every pitcher not named Cy Young: 417 wins, 3,508 strikeouts, 110 shutouts and 2.17 ERA over a brilliant, 21-year career.
