1867 Baseball Throw-Down with Trophy Ball Content

1867 Baseball Throw-Down with Trophy Ball Content

Here's an Incredibly detailed invitation from A.F. Greenwood, Secratary of the Y.A.B.B.C. to Master Irwin, president of the Young America Base Ball Club. The letter could be one to the president from the secretary of the same team. The two-pager on all four sides states: "We will either play your club a friendly game or you can send us a challenge for a match game, for the ball." This is the only authentic letter we have seen referencing a trophy ball. Lists all the players (Katz C, T. Dallam P, W. Dallam SS, Andrews 1B, Greenwood 2B, Knox/Jacobs/Hughes 3B, Shields LF, Wolymett CF, Reynolds RF) and scorer M. Cox. There are tears at the folds but the ink is very strong and the lot rates NM overall.
