1971 Tim McCarver Philadelphia Philles Jersey
Tim McCarver caught Hall of Fame pitchers Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton over his 22-year major league playing career, primarily with the Cardinals and Phillies. This terrific old flannel home pinstriped jersey from the latter club shows great wear. "McCarver" is stitched on a name plate in the collar, and there's a Wilson 44 tag on the lower outside flap, along with "4-4-1971 Set 1" stitched in. The Phillies P and #6 adorn the front, while the back also features the number 6. A .271 lifetime hitter, McCarver was a solid offensive catcher who for years held the record for most triples in a World Series. He also anchored strong staffs and helped St. Louis win championships in 1964 and 1967. Immediately after his retirement in 1980, the Memphis native transitioned to the broadcast booth, where he has excelled as a color analyst, earning membership in the Hall of Fame as the 2012 Ford Frick Award winner.
