1867 Cliftons of Buffalo Mounted Albumen Photograph
Splendid, fresh to the market image of only the second organized baseball club in the history of Buffalo. This is the plate specimen for the 2017 book "Baseball in Buffalo" by Paul Langendorger and the Buffalo History Museum. This is the only known specimen. The verso fully identifies the players in pencil, a vital historical record. Included are: Fairchilds 2d base, Roberston SS, Rice P, Hollond 1st Base, Tamer Left Field, Lampher 3d B, Pickering RF, Cassell Center f, Cowen Catcher. Also in pencil is, "The old Cliftons Buffalo's stellar team of 1867". The photo itself is in exceptional NM condition with lovely tones. The players are nattily dressed in checkered uniform (highly unusual) with caps, bat and even a trophy bat which shines nicely from the image. Matt is uncut as it was originally framed with an over matt which caused some paper loss when removed. The perfect piece for your own historical society. Overall 9x11" the main image being 6x8.5". <p>Size: 9x11"</p>
