Civil War Baseball "Muffins" Scorecard - One of the Earliest Known

Civil War Baseball "Muffins" Scorecard - One of the Earliest Known

The earliest scorecard we have offered in six decades, this comes from a game is between the Stars and the Union and is of obvious Civil War influence. This fresh find (first time ever offered), is from a MUFFINS game as emblazoned across the top. Baseball "Muffins" as defined by the legendary Henry Chadwick as a "class of ball players" on an amateur level although the game and scoring seems quite sophisticated. The Umpire is even recorded as Ward of the "Muffins" which may refer to the Muffins as a league or organization using a popular sobriquet of the day.
