1881 Scorecard Entirely Filled Out in the Hand of Harry Wright (PSA)
You see scorecards with Harry Wright's initials, but not entirely in his hand. Harry Wright was the assembler, manager, and center fielder for baseball's first professional team, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings. For his contributions as a manager and developer of baseball, Wright is in the Hall of Fame. These scorecards cards are from 1881 when Wright was managing the Boston Red Stockings. One side is Chicago White Stockings game with Hall of Famers Cap Anson and King Kelly playing for Chicago. Verso, is the June 22, 1881, game between Wright's Boston Red Stockings and Philadelphia. Shows Boston lineup with Barnes, Morrill and more. Essentially you have here him filling out the names of legends Cap Anson and Mike "King" Kelly on one document. Anson, a great player, was in large part responsible for the enacting of baseball's color line when Anson's actions resulted in the 1887 banning of African-American players Fleetwood Walker and George Stovey from a game in Newark against Anson's team. Each scorecard side measures approximately 4x6.5". Meticulously scored. Excellent condition. Comes with PSA letter.
