1894 Temple Cup Photogravure by Henry Sandham - Rare Handcolored Version

1894 Temple Cup Photogravure by Henry Sandham - Rare Handcolored Version

One of the classic pieces of sports memorabilia. Entitled "A Base Ball Match," this gorgeous hand-colored print by Henry Sandham depicts the 1894 Temple Cup playoff game between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds. The color version is extremely rare and even the Library of Congress only has the b/w one. Published and copyright 1896 by Boussod, Valadon & Company. Print itself is 28x42", matted and framed - it has not been removed for further inspection. Frame has some cracks in the wood, but it still holds together. Only a handful of these are known to exist. This regal piece is unique offering that would look amazing in a sports room, but even better; it is refined enough to be over the fireplace in the finest "non-sports" homes. Yes, your wife will want you to put it up.
