It is interesting to note that it was during the 1894 season that Yale players George Case and Dutch Carter invented one of the National Pastime’s great innovations – the suicide squeeze play. In 1901, the two intrepid alumni would found the New York law firm White & Case. In 1902, their innovation debuted in the Major Leagues. Some light toning is a mild distraction and inconsequential considering this artifact’s age.
