1899 "The Boston's Champions" Boston Beaneaters Imperial Cabinet Photo by Chickering
Magnificent 18” x 24” imperial size cabinet photo of the 1899 Boston Beaneaters baseball team, matted and framed to 26” x 31”. Photo reads “The Boston’s Champions 1899” and “Copyright by E. Chickering ‘99” which pertains to well known copyright claimant photographer Walter E. Chickering of Boston. This imperial sized photo is extremely rare as it was only given to players. Chock full of HOFers from basball’s deadball era, we have been able to categorically identify Kid Nichols, Vic Willis, Jimmy Collins, Manager Frank Selee, Hugh Duffy, Billy Hamilton, Herman Long, Bobby Lowe and Chick Stahl. Sepia-toned photo does not appear to have any creases as far as we can tell, unknown condition below the matte. Some water staining on the lower left corner and on the lap of Billy Hamilton, takes nothing away from this majestic photo which is in remarkable condition for its age.
