1901 Carlisle Indian School Baseball Team w/Chief Bender

1901 Carlisle Indian School Baseball Team w/Chief Bender

Very historic photo is one that we have never seen before, and features the 1901 Carlisle Indian Industrial School Indians baseball team. Mounted on heavy card stock similar to an oversized cabinet photo, this sepia-toned 11.5x8" specimen depicts that year's team, which included eventual Hall of Famer Chief Bender. Very Good condition with year written on back in pencil; year is also on one of the player's hat as was sometimes custom if they were in that year's graduating class. Of course, not long after, Jim Thorpe also emerged from the Carlisle School to become what is widely still considered to be the greatest athlete of all-time.
