1909 President William Howard Taft Watches Honus Wagner Play Ball Baseball Cigar Box
This is a magnificent and large size cigar box, and the only one known. "Yale Fans" with big baseball image is burned into the top, the inner label shows President Taft in the stands with the Yale President, Secretary of State, and reads, "Yale Fans Applaud Wagner's Two Bagger." This refers to the one and only Honus Wagner. Photogravure label is dated May 29, 1909, and the details are inside a baseball, lists who was there and "Photog Bingman." Along three sides are "Yale Fans" labels in this incredible crossover made for Yale because of Hadley. It has wear to the outside, top is missing paper and there's minor water damage inside. Inner label is intact except for a small piece on the top right. Measures 11x7x2.75". One of the best from the finest collection of baseball and sports cigar boxes ever to be offered for public auction.
