1912 Hal Chase New York Highlanders Photograph (PSA Type I) - First Season in Pinstripes

1912 Hal Chase New York Highlanders Photograph (PSA Type I) - First Season in Pinstripes

Original Type I photograph of Hal Chase as a member of the New York Highlanders. Chase is pictured warming up on the sideline prior to a home game. A Brown Brothers credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with Chase's name written in pencil. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by the Highlanders only in 1912, which was the first season the team (which later became the New York Yankees) wore pinstripes. Chase, who ended his career with the Giants, was considered one of the finest fielding first baseman of his era, but his reputation for “throwing” games ultimately led to his being forced out of the Majors following the 1919 season. The crystal-clear photo (5x4.25") displays a small tear in the upper left corner and a few creases. In Good condition Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
