1919 World Champion Cincinnati Reds Scorecard

1919 World Champion Cincinnati Reds Scorecard

Historically significant, this 1919 game program features the Cincinnati Reds vs. the Pittsburg (sic) Pirates. The teams squared off on July 28 of that season, and stars who participated included Roush, Stengel, Groh, and Southworth. EX-MT condition and scored inside with the only flaw is a split at the bottom seam. Interestingly, the scorer stopped after seven innings - possibly because the Reds held an 8-2 lead and the scorer may have left the park - though Pittsburgh only lost by an 8-7 count after an eighth-inning rally. Casey Stengel had three hits for the Bucs that day, not enough to overcome a 5-for-5 performance from Cincinnati's Jake Daubert. Rare program measures 6x9" and contains 28 pages. Of course, those same Redlegs would play in that year's World Series and capture the controversial crown, thanks to the exploits of the infamous Chicago "Black Sox." Great memento of the 100th Anniversary of that scandalous season.

2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of the most infamous scandal in sports history. The 1919 World Series was the scene of the crime, the culprits were eight members of the Chicago “Black Sox” and the crime was game fixing. Shoeless Joe Jackson and seven other members of the “Black Sox” were subsequently banned from baseball three years later and that ban still stands to this day. On this Anniversary, Lelands is privileged to offer a comprehensive collection of memorabilia related to the 1919 World Series teams including a Joe Jackson PSA certified signed document, 1919 World Series tickets, 1919 White Sox season pass, Type I photos, handwritten letters, autographs and much more.
