1920 "Black Sox" Suspended List from Harry Grabiner's Diary
<p>Considered the bible of Black Sox info, this piece comes directly from Harry Grabiner's diary. Dated November 26, 1920 on top with American League Professional Base Ball Club Chicago header on top left, contents include "Suspended" list on bottom listing the twelve players who have been suspended: Joe Jackson, Eddie Cicotte, Swede Reisberg, Buck Weaver, Chick Gandil, Happy Felsch, Claude Williams, Fred McMullin, Win Noyes, John Sullivan, Block and North. Also lists the Chicago reserve list including: Eddie Collins, Red Faber, Dickie Kerr, Eddie Murphy, Ray Schalk and Kid Gleason. Carbon copy typewritten on onion skin paper, there are a few holes and two mailing folds. Still in tremendous condition considering the fragility of the paper.</p><p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of the most infamous scandal in sports history. The 1919 World Series was the scene of the crime, the culprits were eight members of the Chicago “Black Sox” and the crime was game fixing. Shoeless Joe Jackson and seven other members of the “Black Sox” were subsequently banned from baseball three years later and that ban still stands to this day.
