1920s Spalding Bat Rack Metal Sign

1920s Spalding Bat Rack Metal Sign

Many children growing up have known the wonders of the pink rubber "Spaldeen" ball and the A.G. Spalding Company which has continued to make equipment for various sports for nearly a century and a half. What is not as well known is that they were once the leading manufacturer of baseball bats. This is the top to a 1920’s bat rack used in sporting goods stores to advertise the Spalding baseball product. The double-sided circular metal sign itself measures about 15" in diameter, and has some bends, chipping, and missing pieces of the graphics but yet, over 90% is still intact on both sides. Both sides have the same image, a side view of a baseball with "SPALDING" in the middle and “TRADE" and "MARK" above and below. The perimeter says "A.G SPALDING & BROS., MADE IN USA" and the sign includes the post made to be attached to a bat rack.
