1923 Jack Dempsey vs. Luis Firpo Fight Program

1923 Jack Dempsey vs. Luis Firpo Fight Program

One of the key programs from boxing’s Golden Age. Jack Dempsey, the Manassa Mauler, reigned supreme as the face of the sport in the 1920’s, considered to the best of all pugilists. The fight was certainly one of the most exciting and discussed events in the history of boxing. The slugfest between Dempsey and Luis Firpo was absolute mayhem for 3 minutes and 57 seconds before Dempsey won by KO in the second round. Firpo dropped Dempsey with his first punch, but Dempsey came back to knock down Firpo 7 times before the end of the round. Before the sound of that first bell, Firpo knocked Dempsey clear through the ropes and onto a sportswriter’s typewriter. Cover displays photos of both pugilists in gentleman’s clothes. Lightly stained with a few creases, but VG-EX. Contents EX.
