Jack Dempsey Photo (6x8") & Luis Firpo Autographed Postcard
A very nice signed photo of Jack Dempsey (6x8”). Quality of photo is EX-MT and signature to famed boxing book editor, Nat Fleischer is equally as impressive and bold in black fountain pen: “To my pal Nat Fleischer - a great sport, Jack Dempsey.” Signature grades “9” out of a possible 10. Accompanying postcard (6.5x4.5”) is a rare signed photo in turquoise ink by Luis Firpo. Not only a tough autograph, but this is the only signed photo of this fight that we have ever seen. Photo is an American classic of the moment Firpo knocked Dempsey completely out of the ring into the press box at the Polo Grounds on September 14, 1923. Signature and inscription read, “Sincerely Luis A. Firpo” with added inscription in Spanish and the date, “2-9-59.” Inscription is slightly bled, grading “7” out of a possible 10. Scrapbook damage on verso. O/w VG-EX.
