1926 Joe Jackson Dry Cleaners Photograph

Just a few years after participating in the most controversial World Series in history, this photo was taken in 1926 of Joe Jackson with his wife and nephew George. Measuring 6.5"x4.5", the photo is affixed to heavy cardboard and pictures two African-American workers and a customer to the back right. Very good condition with mild creasing with few tears to edges. Though he was banished in the aftermath of the 1919 Black Sox scandal, history has been more forgiving of the star outfielder than many of his teammates as debate has raged over whether he was an actual participant in the fixing of that series.

2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of the most infamous scandal in sports history. The 1919 World Series was the scene of the crime, the culprits were eight members of the Chicago “Black Sox” and the crime was game fixing. On this Anniversary, Lelands is privileged to offer a comprehensive collection of memorabilia related to the 1919 World Series teams including a Joe Jackson PSA certified signed document, 1919 World Series tickets, 1919 White Sox season pass, Type I photos, handwritten letters, autographs and much more.
