1930s Jacksonville Red Caps Negro League Game Used Bat

1930s Jacksonville Red Caps Negro League Game Used Bat

This awesome 1930s Louisville Slugger 250 is the only one of its kind known to exist. This dark-grained specimen sports "Red Caps” in block letters on the barrel, representing the famed Negro American League team that played at Jacksonville, Florida's Durkee Field in 1938, moved to Cleveland to become the Cleveland Bears and returned to Jacksonville in 1941-42. It measures a substantial 37" in length and weighs 40 ounces, was cracked and repaired somewhat crudely with nails, and markings date the bat to 1930s. The Red Caps went on to become an unaffiliated team for many years and were honored by MLB in a 2008 game with the Tampa Bay Rays wearing their throwback uniforms versus the Pittsburgh Pirates as the Pittsburgh Crawfords.
