1932 Babe Ruth in Training Photograph (PSA Type I)

1932 Babe Ruth in Training Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth in 1932. Ruth is pictured wrapped in a blanket, with a towel over his head, after finishing his first gym workout of the year in an attempt to lose a few pounds prior to leaving New York for spring training. Contrary to popular belief, Ruth actively trained during the off-season under the guidance of Artie McGovern, a former boxer who became a celebrity fitness guru during the 1920s. Ruth began training with McGovern in 1925 and, as we see here, Ruth was still following his regular workout regimen seven years later. Four Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with the original paper news caption, dated "1-6-32." The photo (6x7.75") displays a tiny chip in the upper left corner and light creasing throughout. In Very Good condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
