1934 "Meiji University" Japanese Easel-Backed Baseball Catcher Game - Influenced by 1934 Tour of Japan

1934 "Meiji University" Japanese Easel-Backed Baseball Catcher Game - Influenced by 1934 Tour of Japan

This fabulous two-foot tall standing catcher is from the Meiji University baseball team with their traditional "M" on his cap. Meiji was one of the stops of the 1934 U.S. Tour of Japan starring Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Jimmy Foxx. It sports marvelous and unusual (very Japanese) coloring and graphics via incredible early Japanese color lithography. Still has the original stringed net to catch the ball when thrown (sorry no ball). We have seen only two others ever and this specimen is different. Wire stand is not original but does the trick. Some creasing to thin paper on front and very minor color loss but overall very nice.
