1943 All Star Game Folk Art Painted Baseball by George Sosnak
This beautiful work of art, depicting highlights from the 1943 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, is one of the better George Sosnak pieces. Leland’s obtained the family collection in the early-1990s, and this baseball is a true testament to its beauty. In addition to box scores from both the American League and National League teams, the ball features a depiction of Vince DiMaggio swinging the bat. DiMaggio was the unquestioned star of the 1943 Midsummer Classic at Shibe Park, going 3-for-3 with a triple and home run. Although the American League outscored the DiMaggio-led National Leaguers by a score of 5-3, this ball is a lasting memory of Baseball's eleventh All-Star Game.
