Original Type I photograph of Mahatma Gandhi. A lengthy handwritten pencil notation on the reverse describes the scene: "Mohandes K. Gandhi is shown as he addresses a mass meeting calling for end of factional strife which causes the slaughter of thousands of Hindus + Muslims since the inaguration [sic] of the two new states of Pakistan + the Dominion of India." Three Brown Brothers credit stamps and two Brown Brothers labels appear on the reverse, along with the handwritten caption and the date "10/18/47." The photo (6.5x8") displays light creasing throughout and is in Very Good condition overall. Culled from the Legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
