1948 "The Babe Bows Out" Rare Yankee Stadium Ticket

1948 "The Babe Bows Out" Rare Yankee Stadium Ticket

It was an ultra-dramatic moment when Babe Ruth appeared at Yankee Stadium for the final time in his touching farewell to baseball and the world. June 13, 1948 was the 25th anniversary of the House That Babe Built. Thin and frail as a result of illness, Ruth emerged from the dugout to cheers from the Bronx fans for the final time, and they would echo into eternity. Photographer Nat Fein's immortal, Pulitzer Prize-winning image (shown here) tells the story better than words ever could. As the Babe and his fans must have known, he was wearing his pinstriped #3 for the final time. And no one else ever would. His number was retired that painful day and he died two months later, on August 16, 1948. This is an extremely rare ticket, as only a handful of specimens have ever been sold. This has languished in a collection for many years and there is tape across it, along with back damage. Slabbed PSA "Authentic."
