1954 Frank Ramsey World Series of Basketball Award Plaque
A little-remembered series pitted the renowned Harlem Globetrotters against the College All-Americans in a string of games known as the World Series of Basketball, which ran from 1950-62. This great plaque is for the 1954 award sponsored by CocaCola. A raised image of the globe is surrounded by team names at the top of the 15" high wood plaque, a red-white-and-blue crest bears the words "World Series of Basketball," and a plate on the bottom has the year and "Coca-Cola Bottler Award to" at the bottom. Still in EX condition, this was awarded to Frank Ramsey, who took the plate home and thus, it was never engraved with his name. The 1954 season was Ramsey's last at the University of Kentucky and he would go on to be a staple of seven NBA titles with the Boston Celtics. Includes LOA from Frank Ramsey.
