<p>Original Type I photograph capturing Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife posing with a nurse and friends at Harlem Hospital in New York City on September 30, 1958. King was in the hospital recovering from surgery after he was stabbed by a mentally unstable woman at a book signing in Harlem just ten days earlier. Two Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with a handwritten caption and the date "9/30/58."&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 10pt;">The photo (8x10") displays a few light surface wrinkles and is otherwise in Excellent condition.&nbsp;Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
