1958 World Champion New York Yankees Signed Topps Baseball Cards (32)
For over a century, the Yankees have dominated the New York City baseball scene. And in 1958, they were literally the only show in town as the Dodgers and Giants had departed for California a year earlier. Flexing their civic muscles even more, the Bronx Bombers outlasted the mighty Milwaukee Braves in seven games to capture their 18th World Series title, and an astounding sixth of the decade. This framed display of 32 Topps cards commemorates that achievement, and includes no fewer than 38 autographs, including three from Mickey Mantle. Here's the card rundown: Mantle, Mantle All-Star, Mantle & Aaron, Howard, Ford, Stengel & Haney, Berra, Carey, Larsen, Skowron 1958 All-Star, Skowron, Kubek, Bauer, Richardson, Turley '58 All-Star, Turley, Kucks, Maglie, Ditmar, Shantz, Slaughter, Siebern, McDougald, Simpson, Throneberry, Sturdivant, Grim, Johnson, Cicotte, Lumpe and a team card with Coleman, Lumpe, Crosetti, Turner and one unidentified. There also appears to be a negative of the team photo. The frame measures roughly 26.5x40" and is in overall EX condition. The Yankees remained the lone Big Apple baseball team for three more years before the Mets came into existence in 1962.
