19th Century Baseball-Themed Trinket Box

This beautifully ornate, silver plated creation is the first of its kind that we have seen. It is comprised of a central sphere with a hinged lid which opens to reveal a storage compartment for trinkets and such. At the left stands a figural batsman atop a pedestal. And there are other intricate engravings, floral motifs and a figural butterfly. Displays in EX-MT condition with slight tarnishing and one of the feet on the bottom has been professionally repaired. 7x5.25".
