Bert Bell Autograph and Letter Collection (160)
Presented is a tremendous grouping of letters, documents, and other signed ephemera straight from the Bell family archives. Included is a massive assortment of handwritten letters (135), with a large percentage being accompanied by their original mailing envelopes. The overwhelming majority of the letters are signed “Bert”. However, there are a few signed with both first and last name (“Bert Bell”). In addition to the letters, there are nineteen (19) handwritten notes and greeting cards (most signed “Bert”, “Pop”, or “Pop Bell”), relating to various different subjects, as well as a small quantity of autographs on items of assorted type. Amongst the other autographs is: a signed photo of Bell (8x10” black and white signed “To Frances with all my love Bert” in Mint fountain pen ink), and four (4) legal documents relating to property owned by Bell (three are signed “Bert Bell”, one is signed with his birth name “deBenneville Bell”). The documents and letters are penned in an assortment of inks, with many of the letters being written in heavy gray pencil. The large majority of the ink and pencil rates Near Mint (NM) or better, with most of the paper being equally as nice. A fantastic offering with tremendous potential for break up.
