Boris Karloff Twice Signed Life Insurance Policy with Real Name Signature
Frankenstein's life insurance policy! Actually, it's Boris Karloff's life insurance policy, but as Karloff learned, his name would become synonymous with the beast he played the in 1931 horror flick (it hardly mattered that the doctor was named Frankenstein, not the monster). Here, Karloff signed a change of beneficiary form, dated July 17, 1940, and attached to his original 1935 deferred income policy, adding his daughter Sara as co-beneficiary with his wife Dorothy. He signed with his given name of "William Henry Pratt" (and also the line "Known as: Boris Karloff") in blue ink, grading a "monster" 9/10. Pages are 8 1/2 x 14", with the change of beneficiary form an inch longer. Karloff would need to amend the policy again; he and Dorothy divorced in 1946. Bound document is VG-EX with some soiling primarily on the cover of the policy. COA.
