Charles Conlon Original Glass Negative Collection (27) in Their Original Envelopes

Charles Conlon Original Glass Negative Collection (27) in Their Original Envelopes

Collection of twenty-seven original glass plate negatives, produced by renowned baseball photographer Charles Conlon, each capturing a member of the Brooklyn Robins, circa late 1920s. All the negatives (4x5") remain housed in their original paper sleeves bearing Conlon's distinctive handwritten notes, including the respective player's name, team affiliation, and year (some of the sleeves were used more than once by Conlon, and in those instances his original notes have been crossed out). As noted on the sleeves, many of the images in this collection were used in the following year's Spalding Guide. The name of each player has also been etched along the top border of the negative. Some of the players are featured more than once (duly noted in our listing). The players represented in this collection are Max Cary, Dazzy Vance, Val Picinich, Ray Bressler (two different images), Eddie Moore, Ray Moss, Jim Elliott (two different images), Joe Harris, Harvey Hendrick, Jess Barnes, Norm Plitt, Walt Gilbert (two different images), Tony Cuccinello, Lou Koupal, Doug McWeeny, Overton Tremper, John Butler, Chuck Corgan, Watson Clark, Win Ballou, Jim Pattison, Hank DeBerry, John Fredrick, and Walt Rhiel. Very Good to Excellent condition overall except for Hank DeBerry (FR-GD). Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
