"Chris Evert" 1974 Hollywood Special Tiffany Cup

"Chris Evert" 1974 Hollywood Special Tiffany Cup

Not to be confused with her tennis star namesake, the precocious Chris Evert was a racing Hall of Fame inductee in 1988, just the third filly in history to win the Filly Triple Crown - the Acorn, the Mother Goose and the Coaching Club of American Oaks. Immediately after completing the rare sweep, she came west and won Hollywood Park's 1974 Hollywood Special. The track honored her legendary jockey Jorge Velasquez with this silver cup measuring 3" tall by 3.5" diameter and stamped Tiffany & Co on bottom with a green enamel THC logo on the backside. The engraving reads "Hollywood Special Stakes July 20 1974 1-1/4 Miles $150,000 Added Won By Chris Evert Owner Carl Rosen Jockey: Jorge Velasquez Time 2:02." The horse was named by its owner, Carl Rosen, who employed the tennis star to endorse his company's line of sportswear. Comes with LOA from Jorge Velasquez.
